Relay For Life 2012
It's been 10 years since I've been a participant in the Cancer Society's Relay For Life...In fact it was the first one in Middleton, Annapolis County and it was a night that I'll never forget and will remember fondly for the rest of my life. Everyone we know has at least someone that's been dear to them, that has been touched by cancer, whether it's been a family member or friend..My Dad passed away in 1997 from that horrific disease and only after a short time after being diagnosed. That night 10 years ago, I lit a luminary in memory of my Dad, and one in honor of my dear friend Dottie who had battled with Cancer at that time, and just recently passed away from it. So tonight during the luminary ceremony, I'll do the same, I'll light 2 luminaries, one for Dad and one for Dottie, remembering the times that were most special before they had to deal with the agony of this horrible disease and I will honor those who have battled and lived to tell us about their story. From 6pm until 11pm tonight, if you're not able to participate in the Relay, you can most definitely stop by and show your support, we'd love to see you!! If you're someone that is suffering from a loss, I would highly recommend the luminary ceremony, it's beautiful, sad, touching and may help you release the pain of losing a loved one....it really has the capability of changing the way you look at the world... All the best this weekend...and remember to enjoy Father's Day!!!
