Canada Day July 2nd?

I love being  a Canadian, I truly do, this fine Country makes me proud and I particularly love celebrating Canada Day..it's a time when family and friends gather, relax, BBQ, and enjoy fabulous fireworks...but this year is weirding me out, BIG TIME...there are a number of communities that have decided to have their Canada Day festivities on Monday July 2nd. JULY 2nd? But July 1st is Canada's Birthday, not July 2nd. My Birthday is April 26th, and I like to celebrate it on April 26th, no matter what day of the week it happens to fall on, and I make my birthday a BIG DEAL, so we can all imagine that CANADA DAY is a BIG DEAL...Maybe there's a good reason for moving the festivities to the 2nd, I'm just not sure what they might be....and on top of that do you think our American friends would move festivites to July 5th? I think not,  and I'm truly not trying to sound rude, really, I just can't understand for the life of me, why we wouldn't celebrate on the proper day...there are communities that are even doing a Countdown to Canada Day, that I get, and this year is even a little more unique, we actually have Monday off to recoup any over exuberance from percentage beverage and staying up way too late....It's nice though, it's a free Country, so the good thing is you can celebrate Canada  really whenever you choose, but in my opinion, and it is my opinion, Canada's Birthday is on July 1st, and I intend on waving my little Canadian Flag all THAT DAY.....might make for a sore arm, so I might need to utilize healthcare...a nice little extra perk being a Canadian....That's my rant, and my opinion, I'm Angela Rose...a Canadian.

We may have monday off, but most businesses are open on Sunday. So how is it fair, that those who have to work, can't enjoy any of the activities because we will be working? I think they should have something going on, on both the 1st and 2nd since the government decided we should now be open on the 1st.
