I Don't Get It
I’m writing this on Saturday morning. That’s the time when quiet neighbourhoods get invaded by bargain hunters. It’s Yard Sale day!
It’s a fun activity which my wife, Angie, and I have participated in frequently. Like others, we’re on the lookout for good “deals”. We might negotiate a bit on pricing, but we respect the sellers’ right to remain firm on what they expect.
With that in mind, I just don’t get it when I watch the Canadian and American Picker shows on television. They’re popular programs and I am a regular viewer. However, why should those guys get a better deal than me?
The “pickers” seem to think it’s their right to get a lower price so they can re-sell and make money. That’s the same as me going into a local retailer and telling them that I will pay $400 for a $1,200 product because I plan to re-sell it at a profit. I think the dealer would put me in my place quickly, and rightfully so.
Why should a picker get a lower price than me?
I don’t get it!!!! (But I love the shows)
