Hell's Kitchen vs Master Chef

I could never eat in a restaurant where Gordon Ramsay is present.

The idea that he might have been verbally abusing brilliant chefs while at that location is enough to kill my appetite.

Gordon is currently on at least three shows: Hell’s Kitchen, Master Chef and Kitchen Nightmares. The third show is actually an older series currently showing in re-runs. However, his biting personality is fully on display.

Hell’s Kitchen and Master Chef both feature great chefs. The basic difference is the chefs on Hell’s Kitchen are pros while the Master Chef contestants are backyard amateurs. Because of that, I feel it’s okay for Ramsay to get a little more upset in Hell’s Kitchen.

My beef about Hell’s Kitchen chefs has more to do with their habits out of the kitchen. It’s no secret that smoking alters your ability to taste food properly. It appears a huge number of the Hell’s Kitchen chefs are frequent smokers. How can they possibly know if their end product tastes good?

Master Chef is a whole different baby. Ramsay is a bit more controlled because, if he gets too nasty, there are two other chefs set to differ with his opinion and make him look less knowledgeable. The presence of Graham Elliot adds generosity to the show while Joe Bastianich can be insulting; but never arrogant.

In the case of Master Chef, I don’t feel any of the three chefs have the right to belittle the contestants or degrade their culinary efforts. After all, it was those same three chefs who were impressed enough to choose them as contestants to begin with.

I never miss Master Chef.  It's my summer "fix".

I wonder how long Christine’s wonderful kitchen talent can continue. If you watch the show, you know what I mean. If you don’t, check it out and "see" for yourself.
