Nova Scotia's Highways and Hayways

Time and again, visitors have told me how much they like Nova Scotia’s 100-series Highway system. I like it too! However, there appears to be a recent lack of maintenance which could lead to some unfortunate accidents.

Over the past week, I have driven both the 102 and 104 highways. They both need a hair cut!!!

The height of the grass growing on either side of the road and along the medians is not safe for the average motorist. Considering the high number of recent accidents involving deer and automobiles (including my own), it might not hurt to have the Insurance Bureau call out the government to start cutting (the grass).

Deer are a problem at all times but, at least when the grass is short, drivers have a chance of seeing them and slowing down. As it is right now, motorists don’t stand a chance if Bambi’s mom comes charging out of the high growth.

This is one time when we want our highway upkeep to be “a cut BELOW the rest”.

Same as going over the overhead bridge in Salm on River, cannot see on coming traffic, it is bad, I hope they don't wait until there is an accident before something is done.
