Mandy's Musings

An apple a day...

Nothing beats local produce. I've been chowing down on cucumbers, watermelon, strawberries, peaches, blueberries, beans (from my own little bean garden), potatoes, plums, corn, broccoli, etc. all summer long.

And, now, the local apples are beginning to arrive!

I bought my first Gravensteins from the 2012 crop just yesterday, and, oh wow, so good! And, I like nothing more than digging them out of the apple bins myself, and finding those 'perfect' apples. With the Gravs out, that means Macs and Corts will be coming along over the next few weeks, then we get into all of the different varieties -- including my fav, the Honey Crisp!

Maybe it seems silly, but, I love summer & fall and all the great local food that's being harvested!
