Mandy's Musings

It started with a toe...

When I was a kid, I went swimming in the Minas Basin almost EVERY DAY. It's certainly not known for being warm, but, it was never too cold for Mandy the Kid. Sure, sometimes it was a little 'chilly', but, nothing a head dunk couldn't cure. But, the older I get, the colder I find that water. In fact, I hadn't gone swimming 'down home' in Hants County tidal waters in a few YEARS.

Until Labour Day weekend.

It was just supposed to be a weenie roast at the beach, but, my baby sister and I started off with our feet in the water, at the water's edge.

It was a tad 'chilly'...

With the wind really stirring up the waves, it took no time for the feet & ankles to become, the knees and beyond, until finally, we looked at each other and said "to heck with it!" and marched right in!

It was still 'chilly'...

But, we soon got over it, and played in the water like, at least I, hadn't in ages. It was so much fun.

I think next year, I won't wait until September to play in the waves at the beach.
