Check Your Blood Pressure!

Posted By: Rod Deviller · 4/30/2013 10:42:00 AM

A couple of health care professionals popped by the Cat Country studios this morning to check my blood pressure.  High blood pressure, or hypertension, can lead to stroke, heart attack, or kidney fauilure.

Reduce your risk of hypertension by: being more active, eating healthier, quitting smoking, managing or reducing stress, limiting alcohol, and using less salt.

Thanks to Primary Care Nurse Tracy Selway, Stroke Care Coordinator Meaghan O'Handley, and Colchester East Hants Health Authority Director of Public Relations Krista Wood.  Have a look at the vid...

There are a number of blood pressure clinics at the new hospital and at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre throughout May...you could win a prize!  - http://www.cehha.nshealth.ca/downloads/05f649dd-ef9d-4f53-8450-97c3b7527fab.pdf

Taylor Swift in Concert

Posted By: Rod Deviller · 3/25/2013 4:52:00 AM

Check out some video from a Taylor Swift concert this past weekend.  She brought 7 year-old Emma Routh on stage.  Emma has Fanconi Anemia, a rare blood disorder that leads to bone marrow failure.  Her family blogged: “Taylor Swift, thank you for making our night by pulling Emma up on stage during Sparks Fly.  You are such a beautiful person.  This was a night we will never forget. Emma kept telling me, ‘I feel so special tonight.’  When we are not promised a tomorrow with our sweet Emma, every moment counts.  You gave us memories that will last a lifetime.  So grateful tonight, and that she can forget about all of the pain and just be a kid again.''
