Cancellations
Due to pending weather the U12 Boys Soccer scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled.
The auction and yard sale portion of the Tatamagouche Firemans Picnic has been postponed until Saturday September 18th. Mondays events will go on as scheduled.
The Pictou County Weekend Market will be closed on Saturday due to the Weather. We will re-open on Sunday morning at 10 am.
The Stewiacke Valley Farmers Market to be held at O’Connells Family Farm in Upper Stewiacke is cancelled for this week and will reopen next Saturday.
Events for Friday
The Truro Public Library will be holding Prime Time Coffee Time for adults 50+ from 1:30 p.m. - 3 p.m. Bring a friend, and join us for free refreshments and socializing.
The Annual Bluegrass Festival will be taking place over the weekend at the Stewiacke River Park, Exit 11 off the 102. Featuring music by Bluegrass Tradition, Rustic Harmony, Grassfire and many more. The weekend admission price is $45.00 per person, including your camp site. For more information call Lloyd or Sandra at 639-2556 CEC will be holding soccer tryouts for boys from 3:30-5:30 at the CEC game field and the CEC girls tryouts will be held from 3:30-5:30 at the Timbits field.
The Cobequid Salmon Association will be holding a walk and talk at 1:30pm at the bridge over Little River on the Brentwood Road. Come and learn all about what they are doing to restore habitat for salmon, trout and other aquatic species. For more information call Robert at 895-1907
Events for Saturday
There will be a country and western dance at the Noel Fire Hall from 8:30pm-midnight with music by C & M Country. Admission is $7.00 per person and they will have a shared lunch. Everyone 19 and over is welcome.

An Afternoon of Music will be held at St Andrew’s United Church in Stewiacke at 46 Main Street East. Beginning at 1:30pm with entertainers Faith Lift; Jim Paul; Richard McClellan; Ron & Dianne. Enjoy the friendly “Kitchen Party” atmosphere. Everyone welcome! Goodwill offering. Tea and coffee provided. Canteen on site. For more information contact 639-9213.
There will be a weekend of good family fun at “Summerama 2010”. 6808 HWY 14, Nine Mile River is where you will find two fun filled days of horse classes. There will be canteen facilities available and plenty of space for tents or campers. Come out rain or shine. All proceeds will go back into Summerama for their next event. For more information call 883-8296. In the event of Hurricane Earl hitting the area on Saturday “Summerama” will be held on Sunday the 5th and Monday the 6th.
The Debert & Area Jam Session will be held from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm at the Lodge Hall, 1191 Plains Road, Debert. Light lunch.
There will be a pot luck supper at the Sedwick Memorial Presbyterian Church in Tatamagouche from 4-6pm (or until sold out). Admission will be $9.00 for adults and $4.00 for those 12 and under. All proceeds are for church purposes.
Events for Monday
Tatamagouche Volunteer Fireman's Annual Labour Day Weekend Events will take place all day starting with a Giant Street Parade at noon then at 2:00 pm a Variety Show and Old Time Fiddlers, also Games, Mock Jail, Bingo, Canteen and other treats - all at the fire hall Then at 4:30 pm the Annual Supper at the North Colchester High School Cafeteria - Homemade Baked Beans, Bread, Salads, Desserts and more. Adults$8.00 and Youth under 12 - $4.00. At 7:00 pm there will be Evening Entertainment - at the fire hall. This is the Tatamagouche Volunteer Fire Department's major fundraiser for the year - everyone welcome - they need your support.
Events for Tuesday
The Pictou County Writers' Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Westville Public Library. Writers of all types and levels of experience are encouraged to attend these informal meetings to meet other writers and share their knowledge. For more information, please contact the library at 396-5022
The Truro amateur boxing club will be having an open house from 6pm until 8 pm, to register for the 2010-2011 season. The club is located on the Bible Hill exhibition grounds in the old industrial building upstairs. All are welcome to come visit our club.
